Star-Writer

Hoewel het bestaan van Star-Writer bekend was als voorloper van That's Write had ik dat programma nooit gezien. Stomtoevallig zag ik in de Duitse Atari nieuwsgroepen een berichtje waarin de kreet Starwriter: Hallo, I have an 12 years old Atari Mega 1 ST and want to read my text-datas with a Windows 95 Computer. I have written the old texts with the programme "Starwriter" the data-names are *.sw and *.bak. Is it possible to transfer the text-datas in ASCII-Code? I have no harddisc for my Mega 1 and the printer-port ist defect. The datas are on 3.5" discs. Can you help me? Stefan My eMail: Stefan.Schiwotz@t-online.de

Ik heb daar als volgt op gereageerd: ... If you send me an example by e-mail attachment I may try to import it in an older version of That´s Write [think they were the same authors] ... Al de volgende dag kreeg ik E-mail terug met een lange attachement [300k]: Hallo Rein, thanks for your friendly offer. Here are two text-datas (eschen.sw and eschen.bak) and the original software (starwrit.prg). My Problem isn`t the programme. The difficulty is, that I have only one disc-drive and no harddisc. With starwriter it is possible to transfer the datas in ASCII-Code. But I have to change the disks three-times for each text. I must load the text from the original-disk and put the original-disk out. Than I must put in the dos-disk and write the datas. Next time I must change the disks for loading the next starwriter-text and so on. It's a very boaring work, beacause I have a lot of texts. And I don't want do throw away the datas, beacause they are my first journalism learning textes. They are bad textes, but they are memories. I am searching for a windows95 usable programme, which can read the starwriter-texts. Stefan
